If there is no opening of the nasolacrimal duct in the eye (congenital condition), or if the duct is blocked or damaged, tears drain from the eye socket down the face.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”424″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”m-b-sm”]In patients who experience excessive tearing, the function of this duct should be examined. This is done by examination with special catheters, probes, or imaging after injecting contrast into the duct.
