Glaucoma surgery

Glaucoma is a disease characterized by an increase in intraocular pressure. In dogs, glaucoma is mostly an inherited disease and manifests in both eyes.

Even though the medical therapy (drops only) can control the intraocular pressure for some time, in some dogs after a certain period of time, drugs may become ineffective. In these cases, surgery is necessary to save the vision and the eye. We perform various surgical interventions that reduce intraocular pressure (subconjunctival drainage implant, frontal sinus drainage implant, ciliary body treatment with diode laser as well as combinations thereof).

We perform an ultrasound examination of the eye preoperatively and make a decision on which surgical intervention will have the best outcome.
